Last updated: August 3, 2026. This policy explains what information MaptoCraft processes when you use the website, why it is processed, which service providers receive it, and the choices available to you.
This policy applies to MaptoCraft at maptocraft.com, including the map-based Minecraft world generator and its public information pages. MaptoCraft is responsible for deciding how the information described in this policy is used. You can use the service without creating an account, providing a name, or entering payment information.
MaptoCraft generates Minecraft Java ZIP and Experimental Bedrock .mcworld files on your
device. Generation settings, the generated block data, previews, and completed world files are held
in browser memory while you use the generator. MaptoCraft does not upload completed world files to an
application server or keep a server-side library of your generated worlds.
A generated world remains on your device when you download it. In-memory generation data is cleared when you refresh or close the page, replace it with another generation, or when the browser releases that memory.
When you search for a location, the search text is sent to the Photon geocoding service operated by komoot so it can return matching places. When you select an area, its geographic bounding box is sent to MaptoCraft's map-data gateway so the generator can retrieve the relevant OpenStreetMap features. Other generation choices, such as edition, scale, ground level, structure settings, world name, and spawn settings, are processed locally in your browser.
If you contact MaptoCraft by email, we receive your email address, message, and any files or other information you choose to include. Please do not send a generated world or precise private location unless it is necessary for your support request.
The MaptoCraft generator uses Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the interface and to identify errors, confusing flows, and performance problems. Clarity provides behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay. A session replay is a reconstruction of page content and interactions; it is not a recording from your camera or microphone.
Clarity may process page and session identifiers, page URLs and referrers, browser and device details, page dimensions and performance information, script or image errors, and interactions such as clicks, taps, scrolling, mouse movement, selections, window resizing, and page visibility. It also processes page structure and changes needed to reconstruct a session. Microsoft states that privacy-sensitive input content is masked, but you should still avoid entering sensitive personal information into the generator or support links.
Clarity uses first-party and third-party cookies and similar identifiers, including pseudonymous user and session identifiers, to associate interactions across pages and sessions. Microsoft currently retains ordinary session playback data for 30 days and click or heatmap data for up to 9 months; sessions that are labeled or saved as favorites may also be retained for up to 9 months. Microsoft may change its technologies or retention periods under its own policies.
MaptoCraft uses Clarity only to analyze and improve the service, diagnose problems, and protect the site from abuse. MaptoCraft does not sell personal information and does not use Clarity to display targeted advertising. Cloudflare hosts and protects MaptoCraft and operates the MaptoCraft map-data gateway. Like most hosting and security providers, Cloudflare may process network information such as your IP address, browser and device information, request URL, referring page, date and time, and security signals when your browser connects to the site or gateway.
The gateway receives the selected bounding box and requests matching OpenStreetMap data from public Overpass providers. Validated OpenStreetMap responses may be stored in Cloudflare's distributed cache for up to seven days so repeated selections can be served without another Overpass request. This cache contains the requested map response and cache metadata; MaptoCraft does not intentionally add your IP address or a user account identifier to the cached OpenStreetMap response. Some resources are requested directly by your browser. The provider can therefore receive your IP address, browser information, referring page, request time, and the requested search, tile, or data URL. Depending on the feature you use, MaptoCraft connects to:
Climate detection does not contact another provider. MaptoCraft samples a bundled 0.1-degree Köppen-Geiger classification at the center of the selected area. The bundled climate data is from Beck et al. (2023) and is licensed under CC BY 4.0.
MaptoCraft uses browser local storage for recent locations, whether the tutorial was dismissed, whether the famous-places layer is visible, and the last successfully generated Minecraft edition. Recent-location entries can include a place label and coordinates. This information stays in your browser and is not synchronized to a MaptoCraft account. It remains until you clear site data or your browser removes it.
Terrain generation uses the browser Cache Storage API to reuse downloaded Mapterhorn or AWS elevation tiles. The cache is named and versioned by MaptoCraft, contains only the public tile responses requested for selected areas, and may be removed by clearing site data or by the browser's normal storage eviction.
Clarity's analytics cookies are separate from this functional local storage. You can block or delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Blocking them may reduce analytics continuity or reset saved interface preferences, but the core generator does not require a MaptoCraft account. Microsoft may limit Clarity cookies or features where a valid consent signal has not been provided.
MaptoCraft shares information with the service providers described above only as needed to operate, secure, measure, and improve the service. MaptoCraft may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect users or the public, investigate abuse, or establish and defend legal claims. If MaptoCraft is transferred to another operator, relevant information may transfer with the service subject to applicable law and this policy.
MaptoCraft does not sell or rent personal information.
MaptoCraft and its providers operate infrastructure in multiple countries. Information may therefore be processed outside the country where you live, including in the United States. Privacy laws in those locations may differ from your local laws. Providers are responsible for the safeguards described in their own privacy statements and contractual commitments.
You can clear MaptoCraft local storage and analytics cookies using your browser's site-data controls, block third-party cookies, or use browser privacy protections. You can also use Microsoft's available privacy and advertising controls. These choices may reset local preferences or reduce some analytics features but do not require you to delete a MaptoCraft account because the service has no user accounts.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent for personal information covered by applicable law. You may also have the right to complain to your local privacy or data-protection authority. To make a request concerning information controlled by MaptoCraft, use the contact address below. MaptoCraft may need enough information to verify and respond to your request, and some provider-controlled information may need to be addressed directly with that provider.
MaptoCraft is a general-audience utility and is not designed to request personal information from children. If you are not old enough to consent to data processing where you live, use the service only with a parent or guardian. Do not send personal information by email without their permission. If you believe a child has provided personal information to MaptoCraft, contact us so the request can be reviewed.
MaptoCraft uses browser-based generation, HTTPS connections, request validation, caching controls, and service limits to reduce unnecessary collection and protect the service. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
This policy may be updated when MaptoCraft's features, providers, or legal obligations change. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page identifies the current version. Material changes may also be highlighted on the site when appropriate.
